The Band as a Community Project

The ethos behind Piping Hot Cwmbran is based solely on fun and friendship , and that ethos extends far beyond our practice room walls.

The band performed at over 47 engagements in 2023 and more than 50% of those were engagements to appear at community events, care homes, schools and youth groups. In addition to that the band supported various charities throughout the year - The Royal British Legion, Cwmbran and District Ex Services Association, The Alzheimer's Society.

Our Pipers always play at the funerals of Veterans', Serving members of the Armed Forces, Emergency Services and NHS Staff free of charge.

We will always attend charity events free of charge, depending on our availability, along with most community related events. At others, we may ask for a small donation to cover our costs, such as our Public Liability Insurance, instrument insurance, instrument maintenance and upkeep. The logos of various organisations and charities displayed on this page, show just a few of the many that we have supported.

We are a none profit making group. The band pays for itself from the money it earns from private functions. None of our members receive any sort of payment, other than occasionally being offered travelling expenses when we have an engagement more than 25 miles from Cwmbran. Most members refuse them.

This year 2024, the band decided it would have a "Charity of the Year". We have chosen to fund raise on behalf of Ty Hafan Children's Hospice. You can find out more about this wonderful charity on our Charity of the Year page on this website.
